Surah Name: Al-Haqqah Meaning: The Truth
Alhaqqa(tu) The Inevitable Calamity! (69:1) |
Ma alhaqqa(tu) What is the Inevitable Calamity! (69:2) |
وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا الْحَاقَّةُ Wama adraka ma alhaqqa(tu) And what will make you know what the Inevitable Calamity is? (69:3) |
كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ وَعَادٌ بِالْقَارِعَةِ Kaththabat thamoodu waAAadun bi(a)lqariAAa(ti) The tribes of Thamud and 'Ad belied the Striking Day. (69:4) |
فَأَمَّا ثَمُودُ فَأُهْلِكُوا بِالطَّاغِيَةِ Faamma thamoodu faohlikoo bi(al)ttaghiya(ti) As for Thamud, they were destroyed by an outburst. (69:5) |
وَأَمَّا عَادٌ فَأُهْلِكُوا بِرِيحٍ صَرْصَرٍ عَاتِيَةٍ Waamma AAadun faohlikoo bireehin sarsarin AAatiya(tin) And as for 'Ad, they were destroyed by a wind, furious, roaring. (69:6) |
Sakhkharaha AAalayhim sabAAa layalin wathamaniyata ayyamin husooman fatara alqawma feeha sarAAa kaannahum aAAjazu nakhlin khawiya(tun) To which He-SWT subjected them for seven nights and eight days in succession so that you might have seen men during it lying prostrate, as though they were stumps of palm ruined. (69:7) |
فَهَلْ تَرَى لَهُم مِّن بَاقِيَةٍ Fahal tara lahum min baqiya(tin) Do you see any remnant of them? (69:8) |
وَجَاء فِرْعَوْنُ وَمَن قَبْلَهُ وَالْمُؤْتَفِكَاتُ بِالْخَاطِئَةِ Wajaa firAAawnu waman qablahu wa(a)lmutafikatu bi(a)lkhatia(ti) And the Pharaoh and those before him and the overturned cities committed sin. (69:9) |
فَعَصَوْا رَسُولَ رَبِّهِمْ فَأَخَذَهُمْ أَخْذَةً رَّابِيَةً FaAAasaw rasoola rabbihim faakhathahum akhthatan rabiya(tan) And they disbelieved their Rabb-SWT's Messenger-AS, so He-SWT seized them with an increasing grip. (69:10) |
إِنَّا لَمَّا طَغَى الْمَاء حَمَلْنَاكُمْ فِي الْجَارِيَةِ Inna lamma tagha almao hamalnakum fee aljariya(ti) Verily We-SWT bore you, when the water rose, upon a traversing ark. (69:11) |
لِنَجْعَلَهَا لَكُمْ تَذْكِرَةً وَتَعِيَهَا أُذُنٌ وَاعِيَةٌ LinajAAalaha lakum tathkiratan wataAAiyaha othunun waAAiya(tun) That We-SWT might make it an admonition unto you and that it might be retained by the retaining ears. (69:12) |
فَإِذَا نُفِخَ فِي الصُّورِ نَفْخَةٌ وَاحِدَةٌ Faitha nufikha fee a(l)ssoori nafkhatun wahida(tun) And when the Trumpet will sound a single blast. (69:13) |
وَحُمِلَتِ الْأَرْضُ وَالْجِبَالُ فَدُكَّتَا دَكَّةً وَاحِدَةً Wahumilati alardu wa(a)ljibalu fadukkata dakkatan wahida(tan) And the earth and the mountains will be borne, and they will be crushed with a single crashing. (69:14) |
فَيَوْمَئِذٍ وَقَعَتِ الْوَاقِعَةُ Fayawmaithin waqaAAati alwaqiAAa(tu) Then on that Day will happen the event. (69:15) |
وَانشَقَّتِ السَّمَاء فَهِيَ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَاهِيَةٌ Wa(i)nshaqqati a(l)ssamao fahiya yawmaithin wahiya(tun) And the heaven will be rent in asunder; frail it will be on that Day. (69:16) |
وَالْمَلَكُ عَلَى أَرْجَائِهَا وَيَحْمِلُ عَرْشَ رَبِّكَ فَوْقَهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ ثَمَانِيَةٌ Wa(a)lmalaku AAala arjaiha wayahmilu AAarsha rabbika fawqahum yawmaithin thamaniya(tun) And the angels will be on its borders, and eight of them will on that Day bear the Throne of your Rabb-SWT over them. (69:17) |
يَوْمَئِذٍ تُعْرَضُونَ لَا تَخْفَى مِنكُمْ خَافِيَةٌ Yawmaithin tuAAradoona la takhfa minkum khafiya(tun) The Day whereon you will be mustered, nothing hidden by you will be hidden. (69:18) |
فَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِيَ كِتَابَهُ بِيَمِينِهِ فَيَقُولُ هَاؤُمُ اقْرَؤُوا كِتَابِيهْ Faamma man ootiya kitabahu biyameenihi fayaqoolu haomu iqraoo kitabiyah Then as to him, whose book will be vouchsafed to him in his right hand, he will say: Here! Read my record. (69:19) |
إِنِّي ظَنَنتُ أَنِّي مُلَاقٍ حِسَابِيهْ Innee thanantu annee mulaqin hisabiyah Verily I was sure that I would have to face my reckoning. (69:20) |
Fahuwa fee AAeeshatin radiya(tin) Then he shall be in a life well pleasing. (69:21) |
Fee jannatin AAaliya(tin) In a lofty Garden. (69:22) |
Qutoofuha daniya(tun) Of which the clusters will be near at hand. (69:23) |
كُلُوا وَاشْرَبُوا هَنِيئًا بِمَا أَسْلَفْتُمْ فِي الْأَيَّامِ الْخَالِيَةِ Kuloo wa(i)shraboo haneean bima aslaftum fee alayyami alkhaliya(ti) Eat and drink with benefit for what you sent on beforehand in days past. (69:24) |
وَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِيَ كِتَابَهُ بِشِمَالِهِ فَيَقُولُ يَا لَيْتَنِي لَمْ أُوتَ كِتَابِيهْ Waamma man ootiya kitabahu bishimalihi fayaqoolu ya laytanee lam oota kitabiyah Then as to him whose record will be vouchsafed to him in his left hand, he will say: Oh! Would that I had not been given my record at all. (69:25) |
Walam adri ma hisabiyah Nor known what was my reckoning. (69:26) |
يَا لَيْتَهَا كَانَتِ الْقَاضِيَةَ Ya laytaha kanati alqadiya(tu) Oh! Would that it would have been the ending. (69:27) |
Ma aghna AAannee maliyah My riches have availed me not. (69:28) |
Halaka AAannee sultaniyah My authority has perished for me. (69:29) |
Khuthoohu faghullooh(u) Seize him, and chain him. (69:30) |
Thumma aljaheema sallooh(u) Then roast him in the Scorch. (69:31) |
ثُمَّ فِي سِلْسِلَةٍ ذَرْعُهَا سَبْعُونَ ذِرَاعًا فَاسْلُكُوهُ Thumma fee silsilatin tharAAuha sabAAoona thiraAAan fa(o)slukooh(u) Then fasten him with a chain seventy cubits long. (69:32) |
إِنَّهُ كَانَ لَا يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ الْعَظِيمِ Innahu kana la yuminu bi(A)llahi alAAatheem(i) Verily he used not to believe in Allah-SWT, the Great. (69:33) |
وَلَا يَحُضُّ عَلَى طَعَامِ الْمِسْكِينِ Wala yahuddu AAala taAAami almiskeen(i) Nor he urged on others the feeding of the poor. (69:34) |
فَلَيْسَ لَهُ الْيَوْمَ هَاهُنَا حَمِيمٌ Falaysa lahu alyawma hahuna hameem(un) No friend is therefore for him here this Day, (69:35) |
وَلَا طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِنْ غِسْلِينٍ Wala taAAamun illa min ghisleen(in) Nor any food except the filthy corruption. (69:36) |
لَا يَأْكُلُهُ إِلَّا الْخَاطِؤُونَ La yakuluhu illa alkhatioon(a) None will eat it except the sinners. (69:37) |
